Popsicle Stick Bombs

This project will be presented to the class using a projector that is mounted on the ceiling of the classroom. A document camera would also be another good option for displaying each project.

I will show and demonstrate each individual "bomb" on the first page. Then I will show the students the second page and let them replicate the explosions on their own.

The included video is an excellent way to introduce the project but moves very quickly. It could be used but you would have to pause it as needed for the students to keep up with him.

The students will be seated on the floor as it is easier to manipulate the sticks with the cushion of the carpeted floor.

At the bottom of this page is a chain explosion that could be a STEM extension.

I bought two packages of 100 sticks each at Dollar Tree. I will give each child 6 sticks at the beginning of the project time. The two project pages will be printed, back to back, and will give each child a copy to take home and share with their family.
